How to Use the Cable Creator Tool

  • The Pasternack The Cable Creator Tool™ is a powerful method of ordering custom coaxial cable, where all cable assemblies ordered through the tool are typically built and shipped the same day as ordered. The selection of connector types, cable types, and configurations are extremely diverse and should fill virtually any coaxial cable assembly need.

The Cable Creator Tool™ is easy and straightforward to use. The instructions are as follows:

    • • Select your connectors and cable type using the parameters listed below in any order you prefer.
    • • Ensure every “Select” box is checked next to each connector and cable parameter. Uncheck “Select” box to remove a parameter.
    • • Enter your cable length and click “Create My Cable Assembly”.
    • • If you would like additional instruction, check out our How-To video here.

The first step is to choose your connector 1 and connector 2 options. It is important to note that as any of the connector 1 or 2 options are selected, any incompatible options will be unselectable going forward. This is also true for the cable section configuration options.

There are also a few Assembly Options to choose from. Choosing between lead free or leaded solder or to use heat shrink or not is self-explanatory. The clocking option for a coaxial cable assembly is especially important in semi-Rigid and rigid cable, as the cable will not necessarily have the flex necessary to adjust the clocking manually. Clocking can be selected as either 0, 90, 180, or 270 and refers to the “twist” of a right-angle connector in reference to another right angle connector and is really only applicable when two right angle connectors are selected.

After all of the parameters are selected for Connector 1, Cable, Connector 2, and Assembly Options, the “Create My Cable Assembly” bottom can be selected. If not all of the options are selected, a popup will appear that indicates that additional parameters need to be clarified. If all of the parameters were selected and the cable creation is successful, a new webpage with a distinct product ID will be created for the specific custom cable designed by the user. On this new webpage, all of the options selected will be indicated in the product “Description” and the user can input the desired length and quantity of the cables to calculate the price.
